Manila, Philippines: The Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP) recently held the IMMAP Academy Competition, a culminating activity of IMMAP Academy. The competition brought together what students have learned from previous masterclasses and IMMAP Academy modules. Participants were given three weeks to create holistic campaigns for prestigious brands in the country using the knowledge and strategies they’ve gained. IMMAP Academy experts in digital marketing also mentored them.
The competition proper was held on October 11 during Digicon Valley 2022 week. Winners were announced on October 14, 2022, during The Boomerang Awards. Winning teams were Team 4 - Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Team 13 - University of St. La Salle- Bacolod, and Team 17, another team from Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Students who participated will also have a chance to access internships among participating IMMAP member companies.
IMMAP Academy is a holistic digital marketing initiative that aims to train and certify university students with the digital foundations required for the modern workforce. The learning program consists of instructor-led digital courses in partnership with Certified Digital Marketer (CDM) Philippines, self-paced learning modules, industry mentorship, and the IMMAP Academy Competition. Five Saturday Masterclasses ran every Saturday from July 16 to August 13, 2022. Over 1,100 students from 45 schools across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao registered for the live online class.
Judging and final announcement of winners of Digital Young Creative (DYC), a competition open to all young creatives aged 30 and below, were held last October 12, 2022. The competing pairs were given a task to come up with a "digital-at-the-core" communications and business solution to a case given to them. Teams were given 24 hours to craft their entry. Samantha Dedel and Henry Glo, representing Ogilvy & Mather, have won against 45 competitors. They will compete globally through the Cannes Young Lions competition.
IMMAP is now looking forward to the Digital Youth Congress (YouthCon), which will be taking a deep dive into the world of youth-founded start-ups to inspire future entrepreneurs. YouthCon will be held online on November 11, 9:30 am. “Start-up Youth” is our theme and call to action - to get more Filipino youths to participate in a start-up economy that is transforming how we live, work, and learn. YouthCon aims to uplift the youth to turn ideas into action through interactive rounds of feedback on their ideas and an opportunity to be recognized in the startup community.
YouthCon’s speaker lineup includes Ron Baetiong, Co-Founder and CEO of Podcast Network Asia, Joseph De Leon, Director & Venture Strategy Advisor at Gravitas Prime, Pamela Isabelle Belen, President & Co-Founder at Umpisa Inc. and with a keynote address from Glenn Estrella, Head of Venture Ideation & Acceleration and EiR at 917Ventures. IMMAP’s education and youth programs were made possible by our partners McDonald's, Unilab, Certified Digital Marketer (CDM) Philippines, GIGIL and TeamAsia.
